Opening May 23, 2013 the exhibition will bring together contemporary works by Rafael Canogar (Toledo, 1935), Francisco Farreras (Barcelona, 1927), and Luis Feito (Madrid, 1929) in order to emphasize the unique role of materials in each artist's process. As three of the most prominent artists of the Spanish abstract expressionist movement, Canogar, Farreras, and Feito incorporate substances such as hand-made paper, wood, and sand into their canvases. 

Art Angler is pleased to be hosting a fundraiser for the Nicaragua Education Initiative that, by calling attention to the ways in which these three masters integrate everyday materials into their work, will inspire innovative art projects and empower a new generation of young artists.
The Nicaragua Education Initiative focuses on specific educational and art projects that empower youth and community members in the town of Chacraseca, a rural community in western Nicaragua. For the past ten years, Bard College students have been going to Chacraseca for three weeks in January and living with members of the community. Throughout the relationship with Chacraseca, the project has gone from hurricane relief to focusing on ways to create a form of sustainable education. The program tutors community members ranging from 5 to 21 years old in English as well as doing art projects as a means of creative expression. The project strives to provide community members with the opportunity to achieve an education and gives Bard students a unique perspective on both the similarities and differences of a new culture.
